THE 5km & 10km COURSE

The Thames Run starts and finishes at Crowmarsh Gifford Church of England Primary School (Old Reading Road, OX10 8EN).

The route is mainly flat, taking runners from the heart of Crowmarsh, along the banks of the stunning River Thames and through the historic town of Wallingford. There’s plenty of fun to be had for both hardened athletes and first-time runners.

The course is a 5k loop, with 10k runners completing two circuits.

TERRAIN BREAKDOWN

1/6 Km: Flat road from school, past farmland to the end of a small private road.

2/7 Km: Follow a compacted gravel path to the Wallingford Bypass, crossing the River Thames at the Wallingford Bypass Bridge (pavement). Drop down onto the Thames Path (gentle trail).

3/8 Km: Continue along the Thames Path (gentle trail), leaving at Chalmore Gardens (asphalt).

4/9 Km: Continue on Chalmore Gardens (asphalt) and head up St Lucian’s Lane (asphalt) until you reach the main Wallingford thoroughfare (pavement). Continue through Wallingford (pavement, with road crossings and a short cobbled street). Cross the road opposite The George Hotel.

5/10 Km: Continue on the pavement to Wallingford Bridge. Cross the bridge on the pavement, crossing The Street at Stephen’s Field. Continue along the pavement to the finish (school)

Supportive marshals will be ready to help in key locations around the course, for your safety and comfort. Marshals: Marshals will be posted at various locations around the course (they’ll be the ones wearing the yellow vests!). The course will also feature directional signs and kilometre markers.

As there are multiple road crossings, we ask all runners not to wear earphones or headphones of any kind.

Dogs: As the race HQ and finish line are within school grounds, we cannot allow dogs (other than service dogs) onto school premises.

No buggies, pushchairs or prams are allowed on the course due to unsuitable terrain and the risk of injury.
